Head of AI Engineering

At Plata, we are launching a new AI stream that will play a key role in shaping the future of our platform and products. We are looking for a Head of AI Engineering who is ready to lead this direction from the ground up, from strategy and architecture to real production impact.

In this role, you will own the AI vision end to end and lead several AI-related domains under a single strategic umbrella. You will be responsible for building teams, setting priorities across multiple streams, and ensuring that AI initiatives are aligned with business goals and deliver measurable value at scale.

This is an opportunity to define how AI is structured, governed, and scaled across a fast-growing fintech company. 

Challenges that await you

• Build and lead multiple AI directions within a unified strategy

• Define and own the overall AI roadmap and priorities across domains

• Design scalable AI and ML architectures suitable for production

• Translate business needs into practical and impactful AI solutions

• Hire, mentor, and grow teams and technical leaders across AI streams

• Establish best practices for data, model development, deployment, and monitoring

• Collaborate closely with engineering, product, risk, and business stakeholders

• Make strategic technology and organisational decisions in an evolving environment

What makes you a great fit

• Proven experience leading multiple teams or domains in AI, ML, or data-driven engineering

• Strong technical background in AI and ML systems and production deployments

• Ability to combine strategic thinking with ownership of execution

• Experience building and scaling teams or new technical directions from scratch

• Solid understanding of scalable system and platform design

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

• Comfortable working in fast-changing environments and owning initiatives end to end

• English proficiency at B2 level or higher for effective collaboration with an international team
