Head of US Legal

United States of AmericaRemote

We’re hiring our first US-based Senior Legal Counsel to help shape our US legal strategy from the ground up. You’ll partner with external counsel, compliance, and product teams to navigate complex crypto and fintech regulations and unlock new products for the US market.
We’re looking for a legal leader who brings a thoughtful, pragmatic approach to compliance - someone who understands how to advance the company’s mission within regulatory boundaries, and who works collaboratively to identify viable, legally sound paths forward rather than defaulting to risk aversion.

Your Role:

  • Lead legal risk assessments for US product launches, starting with crypto on/off ramps and expanding into offerings like spend cards.

  • Own and manage our US licensing strategy end-to-end — a complex, multi-step, cross-functional process that requires coordinating timelines, resources, risks, and stakeholder communication to ensure successful execution.

  • Analyze fund flow structures, licensing requirements, and custody implications under state and federal laws.

  • Coordinate with external counsel to “stress test” proposed product structures and identify potential regulatory issues.

  • Translate external legal advice into practical internal guidance for compliance, operations, and product development teams.

  • Advise on entity structuring, regulatory strategy, and banking partner due diligence (e.g. FBO vs. operating accounts, revenue segregation).

  • Track evolving US regulatory interpretations, including how non-custodial functions may be treated under custody rules.

  • Develop foundational legal policies and frameworks to support scalable US operations.

What We’re Looking For:

  • JD and active membership in a US state bar (preferably NY, CA, FL, or with federal regulatory experience).

  • 7+ years of legal experience, ideally including:Crypto or fintech law.

  • Regulatory licensing (e.g. MSB, MTLs, SEC, FinCEN).

  • Custody and fund flow structuring.

  • Collaboration with product and compliance teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex legal or regulatory projects involving multiple workstreams and stakeholders.

  • Exceptional judgment and communication skills, with the ability to translate regulatory complexity into business-aligned guidance.

  • A pragmatic, solution-oriented mindset — capable of enabling compliant innovation by interpreting regulations in a commercially thoughtful manner.

  • Comfortable working independently in an early-stage, cross-border environment.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience advising international companies entering the US market.

  • Hands-on experience managing application processes for US licenses (e.g. MSB, MTLs, state-specific approvals).

  • Knowledge of payment processors, issuing banks, and card network partnerships.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive market rate salary and performance-based incentives.

  • 22 days annual leave with an additional 6 company days, plus bank holidays.

  • Comprehensive health insurance plans.

  • Extensive benefits program.

  • Flexible work schedule and remote work options.

  • Modern offices and co-working spaces across 6 countries.

  • Working equipment.

  • Professional development and training opportunities.

  • Opportunity to shape the initiatives you’re working on.

  • Diverse and friendly team.

  • We are open-minded to new ideas.
