Business Analyst [Compliance]
The Compliance team at Plata ensures the bank operates within the regulatory landscape — covering AML, KYC, sanctions, consumer protection, reporting obligations, and other key regulatory requirements.
As the business scales, we continuously translate regulatory changes into product, process, and system improvements.
We are looking for a Business Analyst to act as a bridge between Legal, Risk, Product, Operations, and Engineering. Your core mission will be to turn regulatory and business needs into clear, structured requirements and ensure smooth delivery across teams.
This role is primarily focused on business analysis, with a solid understanding of systems required to effectively collaborate with engineering teams.
Challenges that await you:
Gathering business requirements from Compliance, Legal, Risk, and Operations, and translating them into clear specifications
Decomposing regulatory and legislative requirements into actionable changes across products and processes
Researching and evaluating third-party solutions (vendors, data providers, platforms), preparing recommendations together with stakeholders
Mapping stakeholders for each initiative and clarifying ownership and responsibilities
Identifying and documenting dependencies between teams, systems, and processes
Producing documentation (BRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, process diagrams)
Coordinating with cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Risk, Legal, Operations, Data) to align on scope and timelines
Supporting the development lifecycle: clarifications during implementation, UAT, and releases
Participating in discovery, backlog grooming, and sprint planning
Documenting as-is and to-be processes to ensure shared understanding across teams
What makes you a great fit:
3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, ideally in fintech, banking, or another regulated industry
Proven ability to gather and document business requirements (BRDs, user stories, use cases, acceptance criteria)
Basic system analysis skills: ability to read technical documentation (APIs, integration flows) and work effectively with engineers
Experience with process modeling (BPMN, UML, or similar)
Experience with low-code tools (e.g. n8n) or Jira automation
Strong stakeholder management: ability to identify involved parties, clarify responsibilities, and keep teams aligned
Experience researching and comparing third-party solutions
Experience working in agile environments
Basic knowledge of SQL or spreadsheets for data validation
Experience with Jira, Confluence, Miro
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
B2 or higher English level for effective communication with an international team
Your bonus skills:
Background in legal, compliance, or related domains
Familiarity with banking regulations and their implementation in systems and processes
Comfort working with spreadsheets for data exploration
Our ways of working:
Innovative Spirit: A commitment to creativity and groundbreaking solutions
Honest Feedback: valuing open, transparent communication
Supportive Team: a strong, collaborative community
Celebrating Achievements: recognizing our wins together
High-Tech Environment: a team full of smart and revolutionary people who date to challenge the status quo of incumbent finances
Our benefits:
Relocation support to Mexico with assistance for the employee and their family
Flexible work from one of our offices or remote
Healthcare Coverage
Education Budget: Language lessons, professional training and certifications
Wellness Budget: Mental health and fitness activity reimbursements
Vacation policy: 20 days of annual leave and paid sick leave
