Back-end PHP Developer (Integrations)

We are looking for a Back-end PHP Developer (Integrations) with strong expertise in building scalable systems and integrating with third-party payment providers. In this role, you will design, implement, and maintain payment integrations and core modules, working closely with Business Analysts, QA Engineers, and other developers to deliver high-quality solutions.

About Unipesa
Unipesa is a Dubai-based development company specializing in B2B2C solutions for payment services across the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region. We integrate with local and global payment methods, connect payment agents to service providers, and build communication solutions that enable customer engagement across SMS, messaging apps, and more.

Role Purpose
The primary focus of this role is to develop and optimise integrations with Payment Providers, as well as build and maintain core back-end modules that ensure stability, scalability, and reliability of Unipesa’s platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop integrations with APIs of various payment providers.

• Design and implement new modules and solutions for the core platform.

• Build system architecture, optimise PHP code and database queries.

• Monitor, maintain, and improve the performance of integrations and platform modules.

• Collaborate with Business Analysts and QA Engineers to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and ensure quality delivery.

• Refactor and maintain legacy code, introducing improvements and best practices.

• Participate in code reviews and contribute to process optimisation within the development team.

Tech Stack

• PHP 7+, Native PHP, Laravel

• JavaScript, Vue.js (Inertia.js is a plus)

• MySQL, Redis

• Docker, Kafka (RabbitMQ as a plus)

Ideal Candidate

• 5+ years of commercial back-end development experience.

• Proficiency with native PHP and PHP frameworks (especially Laravel).

• Strong understanding of different data storage systems and ability to apply them where needed (relational DBs, key-value stores, etc.).

• Solid experience with RESTful APIs, JSON, and system integrations.

• Enthusiastic about refactoring and ready to work with legacy code.

• Familiarity with front-end tasks (support and development of client portals) is a plus.

Nice to Have

• Experience with automation in development: templating, AI-assisted coding.

• Knowledge of message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ).

• Experience with columnar databases (ClickHouse).

• Knowledge of GoLang.

• Background in billing systems and user balance accounting.

• Broad IT outlook and willingness to explore new technologies.

• Hands-on experience with different databases and caching systems.
