We're Sweed, a product-driven startup building an all-in-one cannabis retail platform. We’re looking for a Technical Product Owner (Customer Data Platform) to help us design and build our Customer Data Platform from the ground up.

We are seeking a visionary, deeply Technical Product Owner to drive the strategic vision, architecture, and 0→1 execution of our proprietary, next-generation Customer Data Platform. In this role, you will not just operate someone else's packaged solution - you will lead the end-to-end design and build of a multi-tenant and AI-enriched CDP from scratch. Sitting at the ultimate intersection of product, engineering, marketing, and clients, you will be the driving force behind unlocking the full potential of our consumer data, transforming it into highly personalized, scalable, and compliant customer experiences.


What You’ll Be Working On

  • 0 → 1 Platform Build: Design and build the CDP from scratch, encompassing data ingestion, identity resolution, unified profile creation, and downstream channel activation.

  • Roadmap & Strategy: Lead the end-to-end product lifecycle; define and execute a comprehensive roadmap that aligns technical infrastructure capabilities with overarching business objectives and use cases.

  • Multi-Tenant Architecture: Collaborate with data engineers and architects to establish a robust, multi-tenant SaaS architecture ensuring absolute data isolation by client and by geographic/state boundaries.

  • AI Enrichment Layer: Define requirements for the platform's AI enrichment layer, including predictive models (CLV, churn, propensity, next-best-product) and LLM-based customer preference enrichment.

  • Continuous Innovation: Drive innovation by continuously exploring emerging trends in customer data management, including advanced segmentation, preference capturing engines, and predictive analytics.

  • Cross-Functional Execution: Work cross-functionally with product, engineering, marketing, and clients to translate complex business requirements into clear, precise technical specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.

What We’re Looking For

  • Core Experience: 5+ years of hands-on Product Ownership/Management experience explicitly focused on CDPs, data management platforms, or complex data infrastructure.

  • 0 → 1 Proven Track Record: Direct experience building a CDP from scratch or substantially scaling an in-house solution (not just configuring a vendor UI).

  • Data Literacy & Strategy: Strong understanding of data modeling, segmentation, and analytics, with a proven ability to translate complex data insights into actionable business strategies.

  • Technical Architecture Fluency:

    • Data Engineering: Strong conceptual grasp of ingestion pipelines, streaming data, lakehouse environments, and ETL.

    • Identity Resolution: Deep understanding of deterministic vs. probabilistic profile matching algorithms.

  • Data Science Integration: High data literacy with an understanding of how to embed machine learning models (propensity, scoring, recommendations) and LLMs into data products.

  • Martech & Activation Expertise: Strong understanding of the martech ecosystem, channel activation, and experience building custom preference-capturing engines.

  • Agile Expertise: Proven history of leading cross-functional squads, managing backlogs, and delivering highly complex technical projects using Agile/Scrum methodologies.

  • Communication & Business Acumen: Exceptional ability to simplify highly abstract, deeply technical data concepts for non-technical stakeholders while maintaining peer-level respect with senior engineers.

Nice to have

  • Composable CDP Stack: Experience building a Composable CDP on an in-house stack (not only Segment/mParticle).

  • Regulated Verticals: Domain expertise in Retail, E-commerce, or highly regulated industries (Fintech, Healthcare/PHI, Pharma).

  • Cannabis Tech Ecosystem: Specific knowledge of cannabis compliance and infrastructure: track-and-trace systems (Metrc/BioTrack), TCPA guidelines, age verification, etc.
