The Team Leader of the Settlement Unit is responsible for overseeing securities settlement operations across multiple products and markets, ensuring timely and accurate settlement of transactions for proprietary and client accounts. The role involves supervising DVP/FOP transfers, SWIFT messaging, failed trades, reconciliation issues, and end-of-day reporting, while ensuring compliance with internal procedures, market practices, and custodian requirements.
The Team Leader is also responsible for managing team performance, resolving complex operational issues, mitigating settlement risks, and driving process improvements in close cooperation with Securities Operations, Trading, Compliance, Client Services, and Reconciliation teams.
Requirements
1. Input and release SWIFT messages MT5XX format in accordance with market rules and established procedures (internal and external ones);
2. Ensuring DVP/FOP transfers are settled in accordance with agreed settlement dates across all products and markets. Control of post-settlement issues. (Prop and Clients accounts);
3. The settlement of high value and /or high-risk transactions are controlled and that the relevant authorities are in place, and that appropriate actions are taken to minimize the risk to the business;
4. Failed Trades are proactively managed and that the relevant reporting and escalation is in place to avoid the risk of market buy-ins, losses, and client criticism;
5. Management of team performance and effectiveness against operational targets, through coaching and development in terms of market practice and newly established regulations/ custodian requirements;
6. Hold the role of the first point of contact/escalation for urgent, complex, risky and complicated cases;
7. Implement the best-practices in day-to-day business related to risk awareness;
8. Manage talents and low performers, spotting and consequently providing feedback on concern matters or success stories and share with Head of Securities Operations;
9. Manage, run analysis, and perform quality checks to increase efficiency or flows standardization, at the same time encourage the team for operational improvement ideas;
10. Take ownership in settlement projects, initiatives, market changes and foresees the potential impact on the team processes;
11. Participation and control of reconciliation issues, ensuring breaks are reviewed by team timely and cleared in line with company policy;
12. Support project implementations, fixes, and upgrades through testing of software and assisting with the definition of processes and procedures;
13. Control of EOD report processing;
14. Efficient cooperation with Compliance, Trading Desk, Client’s Department and Reconciliation team regarding Securities Settlement to maintain effective workflow at the company.
