Team Lead (Linux Engineering)

This role is essential to the stability, growth, and continuous improvement of our Linux-based core infrastructure services. You will be responsible for leading the Linux Engineering team, combining hands-on technical expertise with people management and delivery oversight. The role plays a key part in ensuring operational excellence and driving architectural evolution, while actively collaborating with cross-functional teams such as Product Management, QA, DevOps, and Engineering to deliver high-impact infrastructure solutions.

You will:

  • Actively contribute to architecture decisions, code reviews, and solving complex technical problems alongside your team.

  • Set clear priorities, track progress, and step into operational challenges personally when needed.

  • Develop and support people through coaching, feedback, regular performance reviews, and tailored growth planning.

  • Evaluate and introduce technologies and tools, keep technical debt visible and under control, and ensure SLIs, SLOs, and service dependencies are properly defined and monitored.

  • Develop detailed project plans and timelines, manage resources, and monitor progress within the team.

  • Drive the assessment and implementation of technologies and tools in the team.

  • Proactively identify and mitigate technical and project-related risks.

  • Act as a change agent to support organizational changes and implement management decisions.

  • Support the incident management process within the area of responsibility.

  • Take a product approach to managing the team’s backlog.

What we expect from you:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Relevant certifications in software architecture, agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, SAFe), or cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure) are considered as an advantage.

  • Cloud Native / Linux Professional Institute / Red Hat certifications is a plus.

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience working with Linux infrastructure, including 2+ years in a leadership or mentorship role.

  • Track record of managing the performance and development of highly skilled engineers, including senior and lead positions.

  • RHEL / Debian expertise.

  • Strong Infrastructure-as-Code approach.

  • Experience with containerisation/Kubernetes is an advantage.

  • Strong Ansible playbooking.

  • HA proxy setups.

  • Nice to have experience with public CDN (CloudFlare as an example).

  • Expertise and hands-on experience with core infrastructure services.

  • Hands-on experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines.
