Team Lead (Linux Engineering)
This role is essential to the stability, growth, and continuous improvement of our Linux-based core infrastructure services. You will be responsible for leading the Linux Engineering team, combining hands-on technical expertise with people management and delivery oversight. The role plays a key part in ensuring operational excellence and driving architectural evolution, while actively collaborating with cross-functional teams such as Product Management, QA, DevOps, and Engineering to deliver high-impact infrastructure solutions.
You will:
Actively contribute to architecture decisions, code reviews, and solving complex technical problems alongside your team.
Set clear priorities, track progress, and step into operational challenges personally when needed.
Develop and support people through coaching, feedback, regular performance reviews, and tailored growth planning.
Evaluate and introduce technologies and tools, keep technical debt visible and under control, and ensure SLIs, SLOs, and service dependencies are properly defined and monitored.
Develop detailed project plans and timelines, manage resources, and monitor progress within the team.
Drive the assessment and implementation of technologies and tools in the team.
Proactively identify and mitigate technical and project-related risks.
Act as a change agent to support organizational changes and implement management decisions.
Support the incident management process within the area of responsibility.
Take a product approach to managing the team’s backlog.
What we expect from you:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
Relevant certifications in software architecture, agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, SAFe), or cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure) are considered as an advantage.
Cloud Native / Linux Professional Institute / Red Hat certifications is a plus.
Minimum 5+ years of experience working with Linux infrastructure, including 2+ years in a leadership or mentorship role.
Track record of managing the performance and development of highly skilled engineers, including senior and lead positions.
RHEL / Debian expertise.
Strong Infrastructure-as-Code approach.
Experience with containerisation/Kubernetes is an advantage.
Strong Ansible playbooking.
HA proxy setups.
Nice to have experience with public CDN (CloudFlare as an example).
Expertise and hands-on experience with core infrastructure services.
Hands-on experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines.
