Senior Product Designer

Kimchi.dev is the complete coding platform: coding agents, inference layer, and spend console in one. It’s a B2B, product-led platform for teams building software with AI agents — spanning a CLI coding agent, a desktop app, and IDE extensions (VS Code, JetBrains) that let engineers route work across 50+ open-source and frontier models, 2.5× cheaper than a commercial-only approach at the same quality.

We’re hiring a Senior Product Designer to join our small senior Kimchi design team. Our users are engineers and platform teams making real infrastructure and budget decisions — the category is moving fast, and so are we. We need someone senior enough to hold their own point of view, comfortable enough with ambiguity, ready to shape the product and curious enough to get their hands dirty in the actual codebase and dogfood the product.

This is a location-specific opportunity. We are currently accepting applications from candidates residing in the following European countries: Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Ukraine.

Requirements:

• A portfolio or case study showing senior-level design work on developer tools, AI/LLM products, coding agents, or other technical, data-heavy SaaS platforms.

• A track record of owning research end-to-end — not just contributing to studies run by someone else — and using it to influence product direction.

• Comfort working directly with AI-assisted development workflows (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, or similar), and a genuine interest in staying hands-on with the codebase rather than only handing off specs.

• Demonstrated ability to operate with a strong point of view under ambiguity — you can make and defend a call without needing a fixed process to lean on.

• Experience designing for technical, engineering-savvy users, and the ability to hold your own in conversations with engineers about APIs, architecture, and system constraints.

• Strong async communication — you write short, clear documents, and can make a case in writing as convincingly as in a meeting.

Nice to have

• Experience designing CLI or terminal-based interfaces.

• Familiarity with desktop app design.

• Experience presenting design and research findings directly to executive stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Own problems end-to-end across the Kimchi surface — CLI, desktop app, inference/spend console, or developer tooling — from research through shipped design and measured outcome.

• Lead user research initiatives independently: plan them, run them, synthesize them, and turn findings into a case for what the product should do next.

• Prototype in code where it’s faster than Figma — using AI-assisted workflows to test ideas directly in the product rather than only in mockups.

• Bring a point of view to product strategy conversations, backed by direct product usage, research evidence, and competitor awareness — not just execution of a roadmap handed to you.

• Participate in cross-squad design reviews to catch overlap early, raise the quality bar, and stay aware of what other Kimchi designers are building.

• Track design debt in your area and push to prioritize it when risk factors or user feedback make it urgent.
