Own ambiguous product problems end to end: from business and user need to implementation, measurement, and iteration.
ArtWorkout is a mobile drawing app used by millions of people worldwide. We combine creativity, education, and gamification to help users learn to draw, relax, and develop new skills.
You will work with a product serving 1M+ iOS MAU and 1.5M+ Android MAU, about 80 million ClickHouse events per day, and a history of 600+ A/B experiments.
We are looking for a product-minded iOS graphics engineer: someone who understands the business and user need, clarifies ambiguous tasks, proposes solutions, ships them, measures outcomes, and iterates.
What Product Engineering Means Here
- Start with the business goal and user problem, not only a ready-made specification.
- Turn ambiguous problems into clear solutions and execution plans.
- Challenge assumptions and proactively suggest product, UX, graphics, performance, and technical improvements.
- Own delivery end to end: discovery, implementation, release, monitoring, and iteration.
- Work with product, design, analytics, and engineering to define what success looks like.
- Use data and experiments to validate whether the solution actually improved the product.
Responsibilities
- Develop and improve our Metal-powered drawing engine.
- Build interactive drawing and gamification features.
- Own product and technical initiatives from problem definition to production outcome.
- Propose improvements to the drawing experience, engagement mechanics, performance, and reliability.
- Translate business and user needs into practical technical solutions without waiting for a fully specified task.
- Optimize graphics performance and rendering quality.
- Develop client-server integrations.
- Define success signals, monitor released features, and iterate based on results.
- Participate in code reviews and technical and product discussions.
Requirements
- Strong Swift and UIKit skills.
- Experience with Metal or another graphics API such as OpenGL, Vulkan, or DirectX.
- Solid experience building graphics-intensive iOS applications.
- Experience with SwiftUI and Combine.
- Confidence working with a production codebase.
- Strong ownership and the ability to work effectively with ambiguity.
- Product thinking: ability to connect technical decisions with user and business outcomes.
- Ability to communicate trade-offs, propose solutions, and drive work to completion.
- English B1+, Russian B1.
Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience with A/B testing: hypotheses, success metrics, experiment launch, and results interpretation.
- Experience with GrowthBook or another experimentation platform.
- Experience with PencilKit.
- Experience building creative, drawing, or other graphics-intensive applications.
- Experience using product analytics to improve shipped features.
