Engineering Manager
As an Engineering Manager & Site Lead, you'll wear two hats: driving engineering excellence within your squad while also championing the local site as its visible leader. You'll shape office culture, represent the site across the organization, and be the go to person for anyone stepping through the door for the first time.
Main Responsibilities
Engineering Management
Take ownership of the design, development, deployment, and operations of the solutions and features your squad engineers develop.
Lead and grow an engineering squad of 8 to 10 specialists. Provide guidance, mentorship, evaluate performance, create personal development plans, track progress, and coach them along the way.
Set clear direction and expectations. Proactively eliminate roadblocks so your team is set up to succeed.
Lead sprint planning and squad velocity tracking to ensure product milestones are met.
Develop and execute plans using agile development methodologies.
Collaborate with cross functional squads and closely partner with Product Owners to meet deadlines and budget.
Discuss business solutions with stakeholders and engineers. Propose alternatives or validate existing approaches.
Site Leadership
Act as the primary representative of the site within the broader organization. Be the voice and face of the local team in cross site discussions, leadership forums, and company wide initiatives.
Own and nurture the local office culture. Organize site level events, rituals, and initiatives that foster a sense of belonging and keep energy high.
Be the first point of contact for all new joiners at the site. Ensure a welcoming, structured, and memorable onboarding experience from day one.
Drive site expansion efforts. Partner with Talent Acquisition, Workplace, and leadership to plan headcount growth, workspace needs, and local employer branding.
Build and maintain relationships with the local tech community to strengthen the site's external presence and attractiveness.
Identify and escalate site level operational needs (facilities, tooling, local policies) to ensure the team can do their best work.
Champion cross site collaboration by keeping communication flowing between the local team and distributed colleagues.
Core Requirements
At least 2 years of experience leading a team of software engineers.
Solid software development background, with either experience or a genuine desire to develop an understanding of the mobile applications domain. You won't write the code, but you'll need to understand the logic of the system.
Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices across the full SDLC, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
Natural people connector. You enjoy being the person others turn to, whether it's a new hire looking for direction or a senior leader looking for a site update.
Experience or strong interest in shaping workplace culture, community building, or office operations.
Team spirited, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
Ability to come up with cross platform solutions together with the team in a timely manner.
Comfortable representing the site in front of diverse audiences, from all hands meetings to external meetups.
Nice to have
Previous experience in a site lead, office lead, or similar community building role.
Track record of growing a team or site from a small footprint.
Experience with employer branding or local talent market engagement.
Familiarity with hybrid and remote work culture management across multiple locations.
