The Role
Join the Pepperstone IT team as a technical expert in cloud engineering, owning the design, development and maintenance of our cloud-based production systems and services. You'll provide advice, guidance and mentorship to engineers across the business, championing best practice and driving the delivery of highly scalable, efficient cloud solutions. Working closely with the Cloud Engineering Team Lead as you'll play a key role in the continued success of the function.
As our Senior Cloud Engineer, your key responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:
Effectively deliver on requirements, ensuring the agreed outcomes are achieved within determined timeframes
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement and maintain cloud solutions that are resilient, scalable and secure
Contribute to the design and management of cloud infrastructures through CI/CD pipelines and automation
Advocate for and implement best practices for DevOps, Continuous Delivery, including automated testing (BDD, TDD), build and deployment pipelines and observability
Develop automation strategies to monitor and adjust performant cloud solutions
Develop and maintain data security processes to ensure networks, data stores, and applications remain secure
Assist with technical problem solving and provide technical guidance to other engineers and team across the organisation
Mentor junior engineers and train them on best practice, cloud technologies, software architecture and tools
Act as a point of escalation during incidents, helping to resolve issues and risks
Stay up to date with cloud industry trends, technologies and market changes
About you
Extensive experience with AWS Lattice or Private Link
Bachelor degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Software Engineering, other related certification or equivalent on-the-job experience
Minimum 3+ years of experience in a cloud, platform or devops role
Proven ability to manage and drive change in a team environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills both written and verbal including the ability to present to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Extensive experience in designing and managing cloud networks, architectures, applications, and services on AWS (Lattice, Private Link, Serverless, Events)
Expertise in DevOps culture and CI/CD practices
In-depth knowledge of automation, orchestration, container and serverless technologies (Terraform, Github Actions)
Experience in incident and issue management
At least 1-2 years experience in a programming language (Javascript, Python, Golang)
Understanding of site reliability engineering, observability data types (logs, metrics and tracing) and experience with related tooling
