Senior Backend Developer (PHP, Yii2)

We’re growing the Sheet Music Plus team and looking for a Senior Backend Developer to build a dynamic, powerful ecosystem that empowers millions of creators worldwide through the world’s largest sheet music selection.
You will play a key role in maintaining platform stability, supporting ongoing product development, and improving delivery speed and quality across the product ecosystem.
Sheet Music Plus is a physical and digital sheet music store selling over 2.2 million licensed sheet music titles.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop new features for product ecosystem and e-commerce projects
Enable revenue-driving product initiatives
Write unit and integrational tests
Independently own backend work from design through release
Adhere consistently to engineering process (code review, QA, estimation)
Reduce technical debt in core backend systems
Debug and resolve technical issues
Required Experience:
Extensive experience with modern PHP (we use PHP 8.0), with the ability to leverage the strengths of the language
Ability to design and optimize relational databases (we use MySQL)
Experience working with Yii2
Experience with high-load projects that have a long development history
Experience working with search systems (Elasticsearch)
Capability to manage projects independently, from design to release and support
Skill in estimating deadlines, promptly flagging issues, and focusing on results
Understanding of which tasks can be solved "quickly" and which require a more "perfect" solution
Experience in optimizing PHP applications under load
Proven ownership mindset—taking initiative, solving problems proactively, and driving solutions forward
At least B2 level of English
Ability to work overlapping hours with US colleagues is required (till 12 pm CDT)
Nice to have:
Experience sending analytical data to services/storage (Clickhouse)
Music background or passion for music
