As a QA Generalist at Kolsquare, you will join our Quality team, working closely alongside our QA Automation Engineer and our QA Manager. You'll cover the full breadth of quality: hands-on manual and functional testing of new features, ownership of test case documentation, and front-line management of incoming support tickets — keeping our SaaS platform reliable while our team scales. You will report directly to our VP Product, Stefan Bauer. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role for someone who enjoys variety and wants to build broad QA expertise across product quality, customer support, and (eventually) automation.
Manual & Functional Testing: Perform thorough manual and exploratory testing of new features and releases, validating functionality, usability, and visual consistency before they reach customers.
Test Case Documentation: Write, maintain, and organize clear, reusable test cases and test plans, ensuring the team has a reliable, up-to-date reference for regression and release testing.
Support Ticket Management: Own the triage of incoming customer support tickets — reproducing issues, assessing severity and priority, and routing them to the right internal owner via Jira with clear context.
Defect Lifecycle Management: Document bugs in Jira with clear reproduction steps, track them through resolution, and keep stakeholders informed of status.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a communication bridge between Support, Product, and Engineering, and partner closely with the QA Automation Engineer to flag good candidates for test automation and avoid duplicated effort.
Process & Coverage: Help refine "Definition of Done" criteria and testing checklists, contributing to a consistent, scalable QA process as the team grows.
AI-Enabled Workflow Improvement: Proactively identify where AI tools can speed up or improve QA work — e.g., drafting test cases, summarizing support tickets, or spotting patterns across recurring bugs — and bring these ideas to the team, always with an eye on maintaining quality and accuracy.
Automation Exposure (growth path): Get hands-on exposure to our automated test suites over time; basic scripting familiarity is a plus and a foundation for growing into more automation-focused work.
Experience: 2–4 years in a QA role (manual/functional testing) within a SaaS or software environment.
Testing Fundamentals: Solid grasp of QA methodologies, test case design, and bug reporting/tracking practices.
Customer-Facing Mindset: Comfortable triaging and prioritizing support tickets, with a knack for translating customer-reported issues into clear, actionable tickets for technical teams.
AI-Forward Mindset: Comfortable using AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) in daily work, and genuinely curious about applying them to improve QA processes — whether that's speeding up documentation, triaging tickets, or spotting patterns in bug reports. You know when AI adds value and when it doesn't, and you validate outputs rather than accepting them blindly.
The Toolkit: Hands-on experience with a helpdesk/support tool (e.g., Zendesk, Intercom, or similar) and an issue tracker such as Jira. Familiarity with basic scripting or automation concepts (e.g., simple JavaScript/TypeScript, or experience with a tool like Postman) is a plus — no automation ownership required, but curiosity to learn is valued.
Agile Mindset: Experience in Scrum or Kanban, comfortable providing quality feedback during sprint planning and grooming.
Versatile & Organized: You're comfortable switching between deep feature testing, ticket triage, and documentation without losing rigor.
Detail-Driven: You have a "sharp eye" for details others might overlook, from UI inconsistencies to edge-case data issues.
Solution-Oriented: You don't just log issues; you help find root causes and suggest process improvements.
Communication: Fluent in English, able to convey technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
You can be based anywhere in Europe. Full flexibility: full remote work with European hubs and 400+ coworking spaces worldwide. Monthly and quarterly highlights in person to get together with other Kolsquarians for great team-building events. A package linked to the market that will not be based on your location. The stability and resources of a profitable group, with the agility of a scale-up. Continuous training opportunities and career development support.
