Product Designer
We’re hiring multiple Product Designers to join teams across Chess.com, Chessable and ChessKid. As we get to know you during the interview process, we’ll partner with you to find the team and problem space where you can have the most impact.
About You
You’re a product designer with a strong eye for UI and a solid grasp of user experience. You care about making things clear, usable, and well-crafted. You’re comfortable working on different types of problems—new features, improvements to existing flows, or evolving patterns that need to scale. You can zoom in to refine details and zoom out to understand how your work fits into the broader product. You communicate your thinking clearly, collaborate well with cross-functional partners, and take ownership of your work from start to finish.
What You’ll Do
Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Design to define problems and ship effective solutions
Design polished interfaces for web and mobile that are intuitive and consistent
Use and contribute to our design system to support scalable, cohesive experiences
Create flows, wireframes, and prototypes to explore and communicate ideas
Present your work and explain your decisions using user needs, product context, and data where available
Own projects from concept through implementation, ensuring strong design-to-code alignment
Iterate based on feedback, product goals, and user insights
Identify opportunities to improve the product and follow through on solutions
Give and receive thoughtful design feedback
What We’re Looking For
2–4 years of experience as a Product Designer on a consumer-facing product or game
A portfolio that shows strong UX thinking and high-quality UI design
Solid understanding of typography, layout, hierarchy, and interaction design
Experience designing for both web and mobile
Experience working with an established design system
Familiarity with how design translates into code (HTML/CSS/JS or mobile frameworks)
Proficiency with modern design tools (e.g., Figma)
Experience using AI-assisted tools (e.g., Figma Make, Cursor, Claude Code) to prototype and iterate
Strong communication skills in a remote, distributed team
Clear written communication and ability to document decisions
Ownership and attention to detail in your work
Bonus Points
Interest in chess and familiarity with Chess.com or Chessable
Experience designing complex or data-rich products
Experience contributing to design systems or pattern libraries
Frontend or design engineering experience (web, iOS, or Android)
Experience with accessibility and inclusive design practices
