Oracle DBA

paytech is a dynamic fintech company dedicated to pushing the boundaries of innovation in the industry. We operate payment infrastructure across multiple isolated AWS accounts for several fintech products. The core stack is built on Oracle Database (AWS RDS SE2), APEX applications, and high-throughput transactional processing pipelines.

We are looking for an experienced DBA who can operate under strict PCI DSS requirements, understands the nuances of cloud-hosted Oracle, and is ready to own database stability in production environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• ✔️ Develop and optimize Oracle SQL / PL/SQL: complex queries, procedures, functions, triggers, packages; performance tuning using AWR, ASH, EXPLAIN PLAN;
• ✔️ Manage database schemas: DDL migrations, partitioning, indexes, ETL processes, and secure PL/SQL development;
• ✔️ Administer Oracle APEX environments: upgrades, workspace management, application support, and performance troubleshooting;
• ✔️ Manage AWS RDS Oracle instances: provisioning, configuration, monitoring, backups, snapshots, PITR, storage, and performance optimization;
• ✔️ Perform data migration and replication tasks using Data Pump and AWS DMS (CDC);
• ✔️ Design and maintain backup/recovery processes; handle restore, schema recovery, and migration scenarios;
• ✔️ Monitor and troubleshoot database performance: workload analysis, blocking, deadlocks, CPU/IO issues, and maintenance activities.

Job Requirements:

Must Have

• ✔️ 3+ years of DBA experience, with at least 2 years on Oracle DB;
• ✔️ Strong Oracle SQL and PL/SQL skills: packages, cursors, exceptions, dynamic SQL;
• ✔️ Hands-on experience with Oracle APEX (administration or application development);
• ✔️ Practical experience with AWS RDS Oracle: provisioning, configuration, day-to-day management;
• ✔️ Solid understanding of backup and recovery strategies; experience with Data Pump;
• ✔️ Ability to read and interpret execution plans and AWR reports;
• ✔️ Comfortable working in a Linux environment (bash, cron, filesystem operations);

Nice to Have

• ✔️ Background in fintech or payment systems; familiarity with PCI DSS requirements;
• ✔️ Experience with Oracle DMS, Kinesis, or other CDC solutions;
• ✔️ Exposure to Terraform / Ansible for IaC-driven database infrastructure management;
• ✔️ Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, or similar observability tooling;
• ✔️ Understanding of ORDS architecture and REST integrations via APEX;
• ✔️ Experience upgrading Oracle APEX across major versions.
