Mid Level Backend Engineer

How will you impact?

As a Mid-Level Backend Engineer, you will directly drive the backend architecture for a cutting-edge conversational property search experience where LLMs orchestrate the user journey. By building scalable microservices, optimising data integrations, and enabling real-time streaming, you will turn complex AI capabilities into seamless, highly reliable consumer interactions.

Your key responsibilities:

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Develop, maintain, and enhance backend microservices and APIs (REST/gRPC) primarily using TypeScript (Node.js) and Go.

• Implement and optimize event-driven, asynchronous workflows using messaging platforms such as Kafka, SQS, or SNS.

• Manage and tune relational, search, and caching data stores including PostgreSQL/MySQL, OpenSearch, and Redis for maximum performance.

• Deploy, maintain, and monitor containerised applications across AWS and Kubernetes environments.

• Diagnose, debug, and resolve complex backend production issues to ensure system stability and high availability.

• Drive code quality standards across the team through automated unit/integration testing, peer code reviews, and technical documentation.

• Partner with product managers, designers, and cross-functional engineers to translate user needs into practical, high-impact backend solutions.
  

What you’ll bring to the role:

Essential Requirements:

• 3-6 years of professional software engineering experience with strong focus on backend microservices and API design (REST/gRPC).

• Hands-on expertise with TypeScript (Node.js) for enterprise backend development.

• Solid experience working with relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL), search engines (OpenSearch/Elasticsearch), and in-memory caches (Redis).

• Practical experience with AWS cloud services and asynchronous/event-driven architectures (Kafka, SQS, or SNS).

• Demonstrated commitment to software quality through unit/integration testing, debugging, and production support.

Desirable Requirements:

• Hands-on exposure to Go or a strong desire to learn and contribute to existing Go services.

• Hands-on experience or exposure to production LLM-powered applications (e.g., function/tool calling, context management, prompt caching).
  

Location & Work Model:

Serbia: Fully Remote (Contract) 

Candidates must be based in Serbia and able to work UAE hours (GST).
