Lead Data Engineer

RemoteLead

We’re looking for a lead data engineer to define and scale our data platform. In this role you’ll own the architecture and implementation roadmap and shape how data is ingested, processed, and modeled. It includes establishing pragmatic ingestion strategies for both batch and high-volume data, as well as defining clear transformation standards and metric foundations. Also, you’ll be responsible for platform reliability, ensuring data quality, monitoring, and overall system resilience.

This is a fully remote collaboration under a service agreement. We work primarily within the GMT+1 time zone and expect a regular overlap of business hours on weekdays to allow for meetings and live collaboration.

Who we are

  • Readymag is a design tool for creating websites, landing pages, portfolios, magazines, editorials, and presentations.

  • We’re a fully distributed team with a strong international user community and client-oriented service. We value a culture of questions and curiosity with a ‘measure what can be measured’ approach.

What you’ll own

  • Data platform architecture and implementation roadmap;

  • Ingestion strategy (managed ELT + pragmatic alternatives for high-volume streams);

  • Transformation modeling standards and metric definitions;

  • Data quality, reliability, and monitoring;

  • Technical alignment with product, growth, analytics, and leadership.

What you’ll bring

  • Strong experience as a senior/lead data engineer;

  • Advanced SQL + Python;

  • Production experience with modern warehouse stack (BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, or similar);

  • Hands-on experience with transformation frameworks (dbt, Dataform, SQLMesh, or similar);

  • Practical orchestration and monitoring mindset;

  • Ability to prioritize by business impact and communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders.

With all of the above, we care more about architecture quality, execution, and decision-making than about experience with one specific tool.

Would be a plus

  • Experience with event tracking pipelines and identity stitching;

  • Exposure to subscription/billing analytics and attribution challenges;

  • Experience building small but high-leverage data teams.

What you’ll get

  • Remote work with a flexible schedule;

  • 28 weekdays of paid annual leave;

  • A corporate laptop;

  • Compensation for coworking space fees;

  • Compensation for sports or other physical activities;

  • A learning budget to invest in courses, books, or conferences.
