Java Developer (Investment Guidelines)
We are looking for a Senior Java Developer to join our Investment Guidelines Compliance (IGC) team. You will work on a strategic initiative to surface compliance data from a legacy system into our target platform — replacing a manual, Excel-based workflow with a robust, well-architected data layer.
This is an app-layer role focused on data analysis, modeling, and clean Java engineering. You'll work day-to-day with a small, integrated team and have direct access to domain experts on the IGC side.
What You'll Be Working On
The IGC team currently exports compliance data daily from a legacy system and applies manual Excel formulas to process thousands of SQL-based compliance rules alongside holdings and trade data. The goal is to eliminate that manual process in two phases: first by surfacing data in read-only mode into the target platform, then by fully migrating and re-implementing rules into its rules engine.
Your immediate focus will be analyzing legacy data structures, formalizing them into a well-designed Java system, and ensuring clean, reliable data delivery to the target platform. Data distribution is handled automatically by the platform — not in scope for this role.
What you will do
Analyze and reverse-engineer legacy data structures and compliance rule logic
Design and implement a clean Java data layer to formalize and expose legacy compliance data
Collaborate closely with internal engineering and the broader team
Work with the IGC team to understand compliance requirements and validate outputs
Contribute to the longer-term migration of rules into the target rules engine
Required
6+ years of hands-on Java development experience
Strong background in data architecture and data modeling
Experience with relational databases (Postgres, Snowflake, or similar)
Experience with Event-Driven Architecture
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
Nice to have
Experience with investment guidelines compliance or the Fixed Income domain
Familiarity with Azure cloud services
Prior work on legacy system migrations or data formalization projects
