Head of UX/Design
About TaxDome
At TaxDome, we’re building the #1 practice management platform for accounting firms in the US and globally. Founded in 2017, we’ve grown into a 400+ fully remote team across 40+ countries, serving tens of thousands of businesses worldwide with millions of end clients.
How we work
You’ll be part of a globally distributed team built on trust, ownership, and self-management.
We focus on outcomes over activity — prioritizing clear ownership, pragmatic decision-making, and accountability for results over rigid processes. Collaboration is central to how we operate: we communicate openly, involve the right people early, and continuously improve how we build products and teams together.
About this role
We're in active transformation of how design works here. We're hiring a Head of Design to lead it.
Our current model is a working hypothesis. We place UX Architects within specific product domains to manage our design system via Git and use AI prototyping as a core skill. By providing product teams with a robust design foundation and agentic systems, routine tasks are handled automatically. This allows our designers to move away from creating individual deliverables and instead take full accountability for broad UX outcomes.
The Head of UX/Design will not just execute a plan but will actively shape the operating model, recruit a senior team, and determine which strategies scale. This role is for a leader who wants to drive a design transformation powered by AI and has clear convictions about its future. If your strategy for increasing impact relates only on growing headcount, most likely we are not made for each other.
It’s a fully remote role, we are hiring across European timezones.
What you’ll be responsible for
The design system as a product. The design specifications live in Git and drive an automated AI prototyping pipeline. You lead the system's roadmap, set high standards for new patterns, and scale them across the platform.
The UX Architects team and their growth. In our model, there are no designers — only UX Architects. You hire, develop, and retain a team of senior UX Architects embedded in product domains. Setting growth paths, calibrating quality through frequent feedback, and unblocking staff-level ICs. The trajectory of your team and the work they ship is your primary measure of success.
Brand & Communication. You oversee the brand through the Communication Lead, keeping product and brand visuals unified.
UX Quality Control. You monitor UX health using data, audits, and tests. You set the quality bar and ensure architects prioritize long-term usability over quick shortcuts.
Strategic Collaboration. You're part of the VP of Product's leadership team, alongside Heads of Product, Analytics, and Research. You also work with Marketing, Engineering, and the CPO to align on and apply design principles across the company.
What you bring
Minimum 6 years on complex B2B or platform products. You've operated at scale and understand how design decisions compound over a product's lifecycle.
Track record of building or significantly evolving a design system that became load-bearing infrastructure. You've established core principles, maintained consistency across surfaces, and held the UX quality bar throughout the product lifecycle. We want to hear what you built, how teams adopted it, and what it changed about the org.
Experience overseeing both product and brand/marketing design under one design language. You don't need to have been a brand designer yourself, but you've led that intersection.
Deep working knowledge of AI-native design workflows. You've built or led code-based prototypes with Claude Code, Cursor, v0, or equivalent, and can walk us through the trade-offs. You stay current and can coach senior designers in these workflows.
A cross-functional view of AI, not just personal use. You think about how to set up AI at the function level and across the seams with engineering and product — for example, making designer↔engineering or designer↔PM collaboration faster and better.
Experience growing senior ICs. Concrete examples of designers you've levelled up, hard feedback you've given, and growth conversations that changed someone's trajectory.
Strong product and systems thinking: you ask "why are we building this and how does it fit the platform?" before "what should it look like?"
