Hypercell is a Riga-based team that develops and publishes mobile games for a global audience.
Our games include Sand Balls, Airport Empire, and Wordpix.
Our scale: more than 500M total downloads and over 1M daily players.
We work with both our internal studios and more than 20 external teams. Our focus is on hybrid-casual games across different genres, from hyper-casual and puzzles to strategy and word games.
How we work:
- We make data-driven decisions. Good ideas win through numbers, not by being the loudest.
- We know when to stop. Shutting down a weak project is just as valuable to us as launching a strong one.
- We don’t wait for instructions. Everyone comes with their own recommendation and owns the decision.
We’re looking for a Head of Publishing to lead the entire Publishing business and grow it profitably.
This is not a support function or an execution role. You are taking over an established business: hit games with active audiences, UA, creative, and analytics teams plus producers, a budget, and the authority to make decisions.
Responsibilities
- P&L: You are responsible for the Publishing financial plan. Your mission is to grow Publishing profitably. Every dollar invested must work: we don’t buy growth at the expense of unit economics; we find bets that pay off.
- Our hits: You grow our anchor games by identifying what is holding back their growth and removing those constraints.
- The next hits: You decide which projects to invest in and scale only those that have proven their potential with data.
- Money and people: You allocate the budget and team to the strongest opportunities and make timely Scale, Fix, or Stop decisions.
- Producers: You build a top-tier team that independently identifies project problems, chooses strong bets, and drives studios to deliver results.
- Your team and authority: You lead the producer team and the UA, Creative, Analytics, ASO, Support, and Publishing Delivery departments. You decide whom to hire and how to develop your people. Within the approved budget and agreed scope of authority, you make project-level decisions. The CEO remains at the holding-company level, focusing on strategy, capital allocation across business areas, major investments, and key deal terms.
Your first 90 days:
- By day 30: You have a clear picture of the portfolio economics, have assessed the managers and the quality of the producers’ decisions, and have presented your priorities, forecast, and risk assessment.
- By day 60: You are running Publishing independently: key decisions on anchor games and new bets have been put into action, and a plan to strengthen the producer team is ready.
- By day 90: The first results of your decisions are visible. The leadership team works through you, and the CEO’s role in Publishing is clearly defined.
How we’ll know you’ve succeeded: Publishing grows profitably, new bets quickly prove or disprove their potential, producers make strong decisions independently, and day-to-day management of the business is fully in your hands.
Requirements
- You have led mobile game publishing for at least 5 years and owned a P&L.
- You understand the product: its core loop, depth, retention, and monetization, and can tell strong potential from a weak signal.
- You connect product, UA, and creatives with profit, payback, and capital.
- You know how to build and lead a team of managers: set high standards, develop strong performers, and make decisions about underperformers.
- You can influence partner studios and drive product changes through expertise and trust.
- You speak Russian and English fluently.
Nice to have:
- A proven track record of taking games to the top of the revenue charts.
- Hands-on experience in performance marketing.
- Experience building publishing operations and processes, including pipelines, delivery, and data workflows.
Conditions
- Direct access to the CEO and a short path from idea to decision.
- Performance-based compensation: an annual bonus tied to Publishing results, with the prospect of a share of the business unit’s profit in the future.
- Remote work within European time zones, with regular business trips to Riga.
