Head of Finance Operations
Muse Group is seeking a Head of Finance Operations to build and lead the operational backbone of our global finance organization. This is a hands-on execution role for a seasoned finance operator who can design reliable systems, drive process discipline, and ensure our finance function runs with consistency and clarity across time zones.
This position is focused squarely on operational excellence — not financial strategy. You will own the day-to-day and month-to-month rhythms of finance, bridging our US and international teams and translating strategic priorities into repeatable, high-performing routines.
This role is open to candidates based in Cyprus or working remotely.
Key responsibilities
1. Own the Finance Operating Rhythm
- You will serve as the operational engine that keeps global finance running on time and on track.
- Design, manage, and continuously improve the global finance operating calendar
- Establish weekly, monthly, and quarterly finance cadences and enforce accountability
- Coordinate execution across AP, AR, GL, payroll, treasury, and reporting cycles
- Own end-to-end execution of the month-end and quarter-end close processes
- Track tasks, dependencies, and deadlines across finance sub-teams
- Ensure seamless handoffs and alignment between US and EU finance functions
- Create visibility into team workloads, priorities, and potential bottlenecks
- Maintain clear escalation paths and ownership across all finance operations
2. Build Standards, Structure, and Governance
- You will bring structure and rigor to how finance operates and evolves.
- Serve as operational owner for finance transformation initiatives
- Provide governance and program management for ERP and NetSuite implementations
- Develop practical project plans, milestones, and tracking frameworks
- Define and document standard operating procedures for all core finance processes
- Coordinate cross-functional finance initiatives and ensure adoption of changes
- Build repeatable, scalable frameworks for reporting and data management
- Translate system and tool improvements into stable, day-to-day operating routines
3. Measure and Drive Operational Performance
- You will create the metrics and transparency needed to identify and act on improvement opportunities.
- Define KPIs and SLAs for all core finance processes and monitor performance
- Track operational cycle times and identify root causes of delays or inefficiencies
- Build simple, practical dashboards to surface finance execution health
- Partner with FP&A and business leaders to connect operational improvements to business outcomes
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement through data, feedback, and structured retrospectives
- Provide regular, clear reporting on finance operational progress to senior leadership
Required experience
5+ years of experience in finance operations, controllership, or accounting operations
Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-entity month-end close processes across timezones
Multi-country finance experience with an understanding of cross-border operational nuances
Hands-on ERP experience — NetSuite strongly preferred
Proven track record of building process discipline and driving operational improvement
Strong program and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple work streams
Detail-oriented and highly organized, with a bias for execution over analysis
Ability to simplify complex workflows into clear, scalable systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills across all levels of the organization
Data-driven mindset with a focus on measurable outcomes
