Head of Engineering (Backend)

The company is a fast-growing fintech building modern, high-load digital products in the Indonesian market. The engineering environment is dynamic, cloud-driven, and focused on security, reliability, and scalable technology.

Location: Eastern Europe (remote). Business travel: Paid trips to Jakarta several times per year

We are hiring a Head of Engineering (Backend) to lead backend engineering teams, set technical direction, and scale a distributed system.

Responsibilities:

• Lead backend engineering teams in design, development, release, and maintenance

• Own architecture and drive best practices in reliability, security, and performance

• Work with product and business teams on requirements and delivery

• Plan resources and participate in hiring

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of engineering experience, 3+ years in backend team leadership

• Experience with high-traffic microservices, cloud infrastructure, event-driven architecture

• Strong skills in Java or Go, SQL, caching, message queues

• Strong English and leadership abilities
