Now we’re looking for a GIS Software Engineer to join our Geodata Core team.
Help build and improve our custom Kotlin Multiplatform library for surveying calculations, coordinate systems, and measurements;
Drive the development of core features end-to-end. Work closely with other development teams (mobile, backend, design) to integrate them into our flagship products: Android and iOS mobile apps, and cloud-based applications;
Make a significant impact on our products by doing in-depth research in the application domain — geodesy, coordinate systems, and surveying workflows;
Work with build tools for cross-compiling native C/C++ libraries (CMake, Bash), and orchestrate the assembly and distribution of artifacts (Gradle, GitHub Actions/Packages) across multiple platforms;
Contribute to the stability and resilience of the CI/CD pipelines used for automated testing and deployment.

Design and ship a public API for new features for our mobile and cloud teams to build on;
Implement computational geometry algorithms: detecting self-intersecting polygons, subdividing lines and areas, computing intersections;
Implement the math behind field measurements — least-squares fitting, geodesic calculations on the ellipsoid, compensating coordinates for continental drift, and so on;
Adopt a new native C/C++ library: cross-compile it and wrap it in a public API, so the same Kotlin code runs across all mobile and cloud platforms;
Add support for a new national coordinate system or geoid model, working out the transformation from official specifications and validating it against reference data;
Implement parsing and writing for a new vector or raster file format, with attention to data correctness, robustness, and error handling.
Proficiency in Kotlin, or in another object-oriented language (Java, C++, Python), with a willingness to work primarily with Kotlin;
Hands-on experience with Unix-based systems (Linux, macOS) and Bash;
Solid knowledge of SQL databases and querying;
Strong foundation in geometry, mathematics, and linear algebra;
Interest in the surveying/geospatial domain (coordinate systems, geodesy, GIS formats).
Experience with Kotlin Native and/or Kotlin Multiplatform specifically;
Experience with build systems such as Gradle and CMake;
Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Couchbase;
Experience with Git-based workflows for version control and collaboration.
Time off — 20 days off per year, plus 5 public holidays per year.
