Full-stack Developer (Middle+ / Senior)

CIFRA is an international platform dedicated to art and culture. We collaborate with artists, curators, and creative teams around the world, producing content, exhibitions, and digital experiences.

We're currently looking for a Full-stack Developer (Middle+ / Senior) with strong backend expertise who could eventually take on the responsibilities of a Tech Lead. Our development is currently outsourced, and we want to gradually bring it in-house without interrupting ongoing product development. This transition won't be the new developer's first priority: the initial focus will be on joining the current development process, understanding the product and codebase, and then gradually preparing and implementing a plan to build an internal team.

Tech Stack

• Backend: Java / Kotlin; Spring; PostgreSQL.

• Frontend: React; TypeScript; Next.js.

• Infrastructure: AWS; Terraform.

What you'll do

• Initially take on frontend tasks and contribute to ongoing product development.

• Work alongside the outsourced development team, gradually getting familiar with the architecture, codebase, and processes.

• Get up to speed with the backend so that, after onboarding, you can independently own major features end-to-end — from technical design to launch and production support.

• Participate in technical decision-making and estimate timelines, risks, and complexity of product tasks.

• Participate in code reviews and help establish consistent engineering practices.

• Maintain code quality, performance, product stability, and technical documentation.

• Prepare a step-by-step plan to transition development from outsourcing to an in-house team. Help define the structure of the internal team and participate in hiring developers. Eventually coordinate internal development and take on Tech Lead responsibilities.

What we're looking for

• Experience developing and maintaining production applications.

• Experience designing system architecture, APIs, data models, and integrations with external services.

• Experience with AWS and infrastructure as code.

• Understanding of CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, security, and fault tolerance. Ability to explain technical decisions to product and non-technical teams.

• Willingness to work on a product where requirements may evolve as hypotheses are tested.

Nice to have

• Experience transitioning development from outsourcing to an in-house team.

• Experience as a Tech Lead or building a small development team.

• Experience with video streaming, CDNs, and video content protection.

• Knowledge of Flutter / Dart or Swift / SwiftUI. Experience with Amplitude, Sentry, feature flags, and product experiments.

• Experience with payment systems and other external integrations.
