Database Administrator

We are looking for a skilled Senior Senior DBA (Database Administrator) to Bilbao, Spain.

Tech Stack: ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Grafana, Prometheus, OpenSearch, Ansible, Python, Bash, Git, pgbouncer, HAProxy

Responsibilities:

• Administration and optimization of PostgreSQL and ClickHouse:

  • Managing server performance and tuning parameters to ensure stable operation;

  • Monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing backup mechanisms and data integrity checks;

  • Ensuring stable performance under high load;

  • Setting up monitoring and alerting systems;

• Hardware and infrastructure management;

• Collaboration with product and engineering teams on data structure design and optimization, incident investigation, and quick resolution;

• Automation of deployments, backups, data transfers, and other improvements of routine operations.
  

Qualification

• Strong expertise in PostgreSQL and ClickHouse, including:

  • Experience working with high-load databases;

  • Installation, configuration, administration, and migration of database servers;

  • Experience with pgbouncer, HAProxy;

  • Performance and configuration optimization for high-load environments;

  • Setting up authentication and authorization;

• Understanding of various approaches, architectures, and solutions for building high-performance and fault-tolerant ClickHouse setups;

  • Experience integrating ClickHouse with other systems using Kafka;

  • Experience configuring and managing Kafka clusters;

• Backup and data recovery experience;

• Designing and setting up database and infrastructure monitoring;

  • Experience with Grafana, Prometheus, OpenSearch;

• Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible;

• Writing scripts (Bash, Python, or other languages) to automate routine tasks;

• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git);

• Understanding of CI/CD processes. 
  

Nice to Have:

• Experience with deployment, configuration, and operation of logging systems – e.g., Elasticsearch/OpenSearch;

• Experience leading a team of 2–3 engineers, including task distribution and prioritization
