We are seeking a highly organized and self-motivated Finance Data Analyst to work embedded in our Finance team, helping to shape and drive critical financial decision-making for one of the world’s leading FinTech products.
About the opportunity
As a Finance Data Analyst, you will empower our Finance teams to make data-driven decisions that are crucial to the company’s overall strategy. You will monitor, measure, and analyze financial metrics and performance, providing actionable insights to improve financial operations and business outcomes. Your role will foster a data-driven mindset within the Finance team and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement across the organization. You will work closely with finance leaders, product managers, other analysts, and cross-functional teams to ensure that finance is a key partner in driving the company’s success.
Experience in finance is not a must, we welcome those highly motivated to cross-train from a different data analytics speciality. The only keys are a strong interest in driving finance outcomes and excellent data analytics foundational knowledge!
In this role, you will:
Help us set the right goals: Develop clear and measurable financial KPIs, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
Be a strategic partner for Senior Leadership: Lead complex, high-impact financial analyses on a strategic level, delivering insights that influence key financial and business decisions.
Handle stakeholders: Serve as the go-to person for finance-related data and insights. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address finance-related queries and drive alignment on financial goals.
Evaluate initiatives: Support financial planning and analysis for strategic initiatives, including revenue forecasting, budgeting and cost optimization. Provide in-depth analysis on financial performance and deliver actionable insights.
Contribute to self-serve data platform: Collaborate with technical teams to ensure the right data infrastructure is in place, enabling finance teams to access, visualize, and analyze financial data independently.
Provide monitoring tools: Build and maintain financial dashboards that track key performance indicators, ensuring alignment with the company’s financial targets and OKRs.
Improve data literacy of organisation: Lead initiatives to improve the organization’s understanding of financial data through training sessions and workshops, promoting a data-driven finance culture.
Be part of our data-community: Collaborate with other analysts and finance professionals across the organization to share insights, tools, and best practices.
Support some of the following finance & business team initiatives (not limited to):
Partner with business teams to discover new opportunities for cost-saving or revenue-generating initiatives by identifying financial trends and business opportunities.
Evaluate financial impact of ongoing business initiatives and product launches through comprehensive financial modeling and data analysis.
Ensure all financial data is properly tracked and recorded for future reporting and analysis, working with engineering and data teams to maintain accurate data collection systems.
Drive the quantitative analysis of financial performance, being responsible for delivering deep insights that help drive business strategy and operational improvements.
What you need to be successful:
3+ years of experience in a data analytics role, with a solid foundational knowledge of good data practices and strong interest in using data to drive financial outcomes.
Background:
3+ years of experience in a finance or data analytics role, ideally within the FinTech or financial services sector.
Skills:
Excellent understanding of good data practices and strategies to elegantly solve complex stakeholder questions.
High proficiency in SQL, Python/R, and Google Sheets/Excel for data modelling and analysis along with the ability to leverage AI for tasks.
Good knowledge of dbt and git to help create and maintain data.
Experience working with common data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Looker) for financial reporting.
Experience collaborating with multiple teams (eg. engineering, business, finance) to create data solutions for stakeholders.
Good presentation and communication skills, with the ability to distil complex financial data into actionable insights for stakeholders.
Would be a plus: you’ve worked with stakeholders before that need extremely reliable, consistent and accurate data. Also you’ve worked on large, complex and open-ended analytics projects before.
