CTO (Crypto Exchange)

EMCD is a leading technology company in the crypto industry, best known as the largest mining pool in Eastern Europe. We are expanding globally and building a comprehensive ecosystem of crypto services, including payment infrastructure, custody solutions, mining services, and enterprise-grade tools for businesses and institutions.

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for our Crypto Exchange. This is a strategic leadership role where you will define the technical vision, develop high-performance trading systems, and ensure the exchange operates securely, reliably, and at scale. You will lead engineering teams, shape the technical culture, and collaborate closely with product, compliance, and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Define the technology strategy and architecture of the crypto exchange, ensuring alignment with business goals and regulatory requirements

• Design and develop high-load systems, including the matching engine, order management, risk management, and market data systems

• Implement robust security, redundancy, and protection standards to safeguard against unauthorized access and ensure operational resilience

• Develop and integrate APIs for users, market makers, and external partners to provide seamless and scalable access to trading services

• Lead and oversee the engineering architecture, covering backend, frontend, QA, and DevOps teams, promoting collaboration and technical excellence

• Shape the product development roadmap, participating in release planning, system migrations, and strategic technical decision-making

• Organize CI/CD pipelines, testing, monitoring, and operational processes to maintain system reliability and performance

• Develop internal engineering standards for code review, documentation, and best practices, fostering a culture of quality, autonomy, and transparency

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience as a CTO, Head of Engineering, or Lead Architect in crypto or trading projects

• Proven experience in building and launching a crypto exchange or trading platform, including spot, futures, and margin trading

• Deep understanding of trading system architectures, order books, settlement systems, and risk management principles

• Knowledge of centralized exchange infrastructure and integration with payment gateways, custody services, and liquidity providers

• Experience designing microservices architectures and working with high-load backend systems

• Strong skills in team leadership and developing a high-performing engineering culture

• Understanding of security, redundancy, and regulatory compliance requirements for financial and crypto systems
