Backend Python Tech Lead

We are looking for a strong Backend Python Tech Lead to build and run the backend of our crypto-banking product. This is a hands-on role: you will own key technical decisions, set engineering practices, and help the team deliver safely and fast. 

What you will do 

  • Design, build, and maintain backend services using Python, Django, PostgreSQL. 

  • Work deeply with Django ORM: schema design, migrations, query optimization, data integrity, and performance. 

  • Integrate and operate Fireblocks for secure digital asset operations (wallets, transactions, approvals, policies). 

  • Integrate with external services (KYC/KYT, Travel Rule, banking/FX partners, internal services). 

  • Build secure and auditable flows: balances, transfers, limits, status tracking, idempotency. 

  • Improve reliability: background jobs, retries, rate limits, error handling, observability. 

  • Ensure security and compliance-by-design: permissions, audit trails, secure secrets handling. 

  • Mentor engineers, drive code reviews, testing, and release discipline. 

  • Work closely with Product/Compliance to turn requirements into clear technical solutions. 

What we expect 

  • Strong production experience with Python + Django. 

  • Strong PostgreSQL skills (indexes, transactions, query plans, locking basics). 

  • Excellent ORM skills (efficient queries, avoiding N+1, correct relations, safe migrations). 

  • Solid experience with API integrations (timeouts, retries, idempotency, webhooks). 

  • Engineering leadership: architecture ownership, good trade-offs, delivery focus. 

  • Security mindset and good coding practices. 

  • Fluent English and Russian 

Nice to have 

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and release workflows. 

  • Docker and practical infrastructure basics (environments, secrets, monitoring/alerts). 

  • Experience with Fireblocks in production. 

  • Fintech / crypto / payments background. 

What success looks like 

  • Backend architecture is clear, maintainable, and scalable. 

  • Fireblocks and other integrations are stable, observable, and safe. 

  • The team ships with predictable quality: reviews, tests, clean releases. 

  • Product and compliance needs are translated into simple, secure backend solutions.
