Backend Developer

At PayDepot, we build cutting-edge B2B & B2C fintech products. As we scale, we’re looking for a Backend Developer with Data Engineering skills to help us design reliable, performant, and scalable backend systems that power our analytics and financial services.

We have a modern office in Limassol, and if you’re not in Cyprus yet - we’ll support your relocation and help settle you and your family.

What you’ll do:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and data pipelines that enable business intelligence and analytics
• Build and optimise ETL processes for collecting, transforming, and loading volumes of structured and unstructured data
• Collaborate closely with frontend developers and product managers to deliver end-to-end solutions
• Design and maintain data models and schemas for efficient querying and reporting
• Integrate with internal and third-party APIs and data sources
• Ensure system performance, scalability, and data integrity across distributed environments
• Contribute to architectural decisions and participate in code reviews
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve backend systems and data flows

Requirements:

• 3+ years of professional experience as a Backend Developer or Data Engineer
• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Framework - core of our backend stack and data processing
• Working knowledge of Python for scripting, automation, or data-related tasks
• Proficiency in SQL and relational database design
• Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines
• Familiarity with BI systems and data visualisation workflows
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written

You’re our perfect candidate if:

• Understanding Data Lake/Data Warehouse concepts
• You have hands-on experience with any of: Airbyte, dbt, Apache Airflow, Apache Spark, Apache Hadoop, Apache Hive, ClickHouse, Amazon Redshift, Google Bigtable, Cassandra
• You have experience with performance optimisation and distributed data processing
• You’ve worked in fintech, or tech-driven companies
• You take initiative, propose better solutions, and enjoy solving complex data problems
• You have experience with blockchain technologies
