Responsibilities

  • Creating visually impactful environments: designing detailed and atmospheric game locations that align with the project's style and requirements.

  • Working with references and concepts through to final engine integration, including generating/working with landscape and vegetation masks, modeling, texturing, lighting, and optimization.

  • Procedural content generation: using Houdini and other tools (World Machine, Substance Designer) to create reusable and scalable assets and landscape masks.

  • Technical integration: implementing created assets into the game engine, setting up materials, lighting, and basic interaction logic with the environment.

  • Collaboration with other teams: closely working with technical artists and programmers to achieve the desired results.

  • Mentorship and knowledge sharing: assisting less experienced colleagues, participating in code reviews, and fostering best practices within the team.

What skills will you use

  • 7 years of experience as a 3D Environment Artist in game projects.

  • Proficiency in industrystandard software, including: Photoshop,Houdini and/or other procedural tools, Substance Designer and Substance Painter, ZBrush or other 3D sculpting software packages

  • Strong skills across all stages of environment creation: Highpoly and lowpoly modeling, Texturing and configuring PBR materials, UV mapping, Lighting and asset optimization

  • A deep understanding of composition, form, architecture, environment design, and their roles in storytelling and game design.

  • Skills in setting up basic lighting.

  • The ability to consider how the environment impacts level design.

Bonus skills:

  • Experience working with photogrammetry techniques.

  • Deep understanding of asset creation pipelines for nextgeneration content.

  • Skills in creating vegetation using specialized tools (such as SpeedTree or similar software)
