Product Manager - Onboarding
We’re hiring a Product Manager for Onboarding at Altery Business to transform how SMEs start their journey with business banking. This role sits at the critical intersection of growth, compliance, and customer experience. You will own the end-to-end account setup and activation journey that directly determines whether businesses successfully onboard and transact with us.
You will work on one of the highest-leverage problems in fintech: reducing friction in verification, document collection, and first-transaction activation whilst maintaining regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions (UK, EU, MENA and others). This is a high-autonomy role for someone who thrives on data-driven problem-solving, understands the nuances of B2B customer behaviour, and can balance speed with compliance rigour.
What you'll be doing
Own and continuously improve the account setup journey from initial signup through document submission, verification, and first transaction activation.
Define and track key onboarding metrics including conversion rates by funnel stage, time-to-verification, time-to-first-transaction and speed of manual verification.
Conduct regular customer research through interviews, session recordings, and support ticket analysis to understand actual vs perceived friction points.
Build comprehensive competitive intelligence on how other business banking providers approach onboarding.
Partner with Risk and Compliance to create clear, user-friendly verification experiences that meet regulatory requirements across all operating jurisdictions.
Design segmented onboarding journeys that recognise different business types have different needs and risk profiles.
Create and maintain product documentation, including PRDs, user flows, and onboarding playbooks for internal teams.
Collaborate with Customer Support to reduce onboarding-related queries through better UI/UX, messaging, and proactive guidance.
What You’ll Bring To Us
B2B product experience. You’ve worked on business-facing products where onboarding involves complex verification, multi-user accounts, entity structures, or compliance requirements.
Data-driven mindset. You’re comfortable diving into funnel analytics, cohort analysis, and conversion metrics to diagnose problems and measure impact.
Outcome-focused. You naturally think in terms of business objectives rather than just feature delivery.
Customer obsession. You’ve conducted dozens of customer interviews and observations.
Strong communication skills. You can influence across functions by presenting clear, data-backed arguments.
Nice to Have
Advanced user of modern fintech products (Revolut Business, Wise Business, Monzo Business) with understanding of their onboarding flows.
Experience with onboarding, verification, KYC/KYB, or risk-adjacent product areas in fintech.
Understanding of multi-jurisdictional compliance requirements, particularly around entity verification and UBO identification.
Experience designing for multiple platforms (web, iOS, Android).
Experience with product analytics tools and comfort with SQL for ad-hoc analysis.
