Junior Info Security Specialist

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and discreet junior Info Security Specialist to join our team. This vital role will be responsible for conducting thorough background checks on all potential hires, contractors, and, where applicable, existing employees. The successful candidate will ensure the integrity and security of our organization by verifying credentials, identifying potential risks, and upholding our high standards of trust and compliance.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Comprehensive Background Checks.

  • Utilize Verification Tools and Databases: Proficiently use various background check platforms, public records databases, and other investigative tools to gather accurate and reliable information.

  • Analyze and Interpret Data: Carefully analyze and interpret background check results, identifying discrepancies, red flags, or areas of concern.

  • Report Findings: Prepare clear, concise, and objective reports detailing background check findings, highlighting any issues that require further investigation or attention.

  • Maintain Confidentiality and Compliance: Handle all sensitive personal information with the utmost confidentiality and ensure all background check processes adhere strictly to relevant data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, local regulations) and employment laws.

  • Communicate with Stakeholders: Liaise effectively with HR, hiring managers, legal counsel, and candidates (when necessary) regarding background check status and any issues that arise.

  • Develop and Improve Processes: Proactively identify opportunities to enhance existing background check processes, tools, and policies to improve efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.

  • Stay Updated on Regulations: Keep abreast of changes in background check laws, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure continuous compliance and effectiveness.

  • Support Internal Investigations (as needed): Assist the Info Security team with other internal investigations or security-related tasks as required.

 

Requirements

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree is a plus.

  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience directly conducting background checks, investigations, or a similar role within a corporate security, human resources, or law enforcement environment.

  • Knowledge of Laws and Regulations: Strong understanding of relevant laws and regulations pertaining to background checks, privacy, and employment (e.g., FCRA, GDPR, local labor laws).

  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and identify critical information.

  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data gathering and reporting.

  • Confidentiality and Ethics: Proven ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion and maintain the highest ethical standards.

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate findings clearly and professionally to various stakeholders.

  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in using various software applications, databases, and online tools for research and reporting.

  • Experience with specific background check platforms is highly desirable.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work collaboratively within a team and interact professionally with individuals at all levels.

  • Discretion and Objectivity: Demonstrated ability to remain objective and impartial when conducting investigations and reporting findings.
