Chief Technology Officer

We’re looking for a talented CTO to join Inner Child once the project is able to offer a paid role. We’re currently applying for government grants and expect to secure initial funding soon. We’re building our shortlist now and plan to hire in approximately 3–5 months.

The CTO will join a small Inner Child team as a hands-on lead developer, owning the most business-critical parts of the product (backend, frontend, mobile) and leading other developers. In the early stage, the main role will be hands-on development and team leadership, with a gradual shift toward strategic technology planning as the company scales.

First 6–12 months focus: Own and evolve the prototype into a production-ready system, establish engineering standards and release processes, and hire/mentor the first engineers.

Responsibilities:

• Take over the prototype codebase and develop it into an optimized and scalable system.

• Become a lead developer and team leader in the early stages of the startup.

• Define and lead the company’s technology strategy (backend, frontend, mobile), and oversee development, optimization, and scalability as the company grows.

• Apply broad knowledge of technologies (AI, data, integration, cloud, etc.) to design solutions where it is useful.

• Ensure architectural decisions and solutions support scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.

• Define and execute a high-level structure of systems and software solutions that support the business and product goals.

Requirements:

• Fluent in English.

• Exceptional expertise in backend development, including modern frameworks, tools, and system architecture.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset paired with business acumen.

• Process-oriented with exceptional organizational skills to manage competing priorities.

• Broad understanding of various technologies, such as AI, data analytics, cloud computing, and system integration.

• Deep knowledge of API design, database systems, and scalable infrastructure.

• Proven track record of leading technical teams and delivering complex solutions.

• Proven experience as an engineering leader or lead architect over the past several years, preferably in a product company.

• Wide technical expertise: algorithms, data structures, Linux, networking, security, SQL/NoSQL databases, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
