Backend Developer (Monetization Team)

We’re growing the Sheet Music Plus team and looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join our Monetization team and help build a dynamic, powerful ecosystem that empowers millions of creators worldwide through the world’s largest sheet music selection.

You will play a key role in maintaining platform stability, supporting ongoing product development, and improving delivery speed and quality across the product ecosystem.

Sheet Music Plus is a physical and digital sheet music store selling over 2.2 million licensed sheet music titles.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and develop monetization features and payment processing solutions using PHP

  • Integrate and optimize payment systems: Braintree, Stripe, App Store Billing, Google Play Billing

  • Build and maintain integrations with internal services (analytics, warehouse, payment service, etc.)

  • Generate and implement ideas to drive ARPU, LTV, and Revenue growth

  • Optimize database queries, APIs, caching, and background jobs for performance and scalability

  • Monitor production systems, resolve incidents, and reduce technical debt

  • Collaborate closely with Product, Data, and QA to deliver measurable business impact

Required experience

  • 5+ years of experience with modern PHP (8.0+)

  • Strong experience with Yii2

  • Solid knowledge of MySQL: database design, profiling, indexes, query optimization

  • 1+ year of experience integrating payment systems (Stripe, Braintree, App Store / Google Play Billing, or similar PSPs)

  • Experience with webhooks, idempotency, refunds, and chargebacks

  • Experience working with high-load production systems

  • Understanding of PCI / PII compliance basics

  • Experience with Git workflows, code reviews, CI/CD

  • Ability to independently lead projects from design to production

  • Strong prioritization skills: understanding when to deliver fast vs. when to build for long-term scalability

  • English level B2+
